As one of the oldest mining towns in Mexico, San Sebastian reached its glory in the 1700's during which time it was a highly prosperous Colonial town. It now remains as a living museum to how villagers lived and worked in a remote mountain township.
Today, with only 600 inhabitants, scattered examples of its traditional colonial architecture, nowadays merging with a colorful village square, quaint cobblestone streets, passing mules and a sleepy way of life far removed from the rest of the world.
