Taroko Gorge is one of the seven wonders of Asia that no traveler should miss. After a 30-minute flight from Taipei to Hualien, you will be guided along a twelve-mile stretch of highway built into awesome marble cliffs high above the rushing river.

Your route will take you through many marble tunnels including the Swallows Grotto, the Tunnel of Nine Turns and the marble bridge of Motherly Devotion. After lunch at local restaurant, visit Chi Hsing Beach and Hualien Stone Sculptural Park before returning to Taipei late in the afternoon.

Your tour guide will take you through rich farming land to the growing industrial area and harbor of Keelung. Nearby is the Cave of the Immortals, a narrow natural cleft in a hill containing Buddhist shrines and sculptures.

Afterwards, proceed to the Northern Coast, famous for the natural formations of wonder rocks, sculptured throughout the ages by wind and sea erosion caused a chemical change hardened the top layer of earth. This top layer protects the layers below from erosion, leaving fascinating pillar formations, including the famous Queen's Head.

The Northeast Coast National Scenic Area is located in the northeast corner of Taiwan. The scenic area is noted for its numerous capes and bays backed by green mountains. Visit Pitou Cape, tall abrasion caves and platforms and other eroded landforms are clearly seen on the cape's hanging cliff.

Later visit Nanya, which is noted for its fantastic rock formations and sea-eroded coral shore. The patterned stone is unique in Taiwan and formed through the weathering of the sandstone that lines the shore. The oxidation of iron ore within the stone gives it a beautiful striped pattern.

Chiufen Village were once centers of gold mining in Taiwan. The gold is gone, but these quaint old villages, built of closely-packed houses clinging to steep mountainsides, continue to offer enchanting scenery and fascinating glimpses into the lifestyles of the past.

This tour visits the neighboring towns of Yingko and Sanhsia. Yingko is Taiwan's pottery capital, a small town that produces hand-painted replicas of elegant Ming(1368~1644) and Ching (1644~1911) vases like those that once graced the places in Peking.

A special arranged courses including a visit to a local Pottery factory where you can watch potters' working the clay and artists painting vases. The main attraction in Sanhsia is the artistic Tsushih Temple, famous for its camphor wood carvings.

This tour affords a glimpse of how Taiwanese people live, work, and play. It includes a visit to the grandiose Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, in downtown Taipei to pay homage to the late President Chiang Kai-Shek. Then proceed to Martyrs' Shrine, to see an excellent example of classical Ming Dynasty architecture dedicated to the fallen war heroes of the country and an interesting hourly guard-changing ceremony.

Later to the National Palace Museum, which houses the world's largest and most valuable collection of Chinese art treasures. There are permanent displays of ceramics, bronzes, oracle bones, porcelain, paintings, calligraphy, enamelware, jade, Ching dynasty costume, carvings, and cabinets, as well as temporary exhibitions of other items. The days last visit is to a traditional Temple then off to see a Handicraft Center for a look at colorful Taiwanese craftsmanship.

Tonight's entertainment includes a delicious Mongolian Barbeque Dinner at downtown restaurant with choices of varieties of meats, vegetables and spices. Then visit the exoticHwahsi Street night market with food stalls, walk through the Snake Alley and small shops.

Spectacular night scene of the ancient Lungshan Temple crowded with worshippers. Ancient Buddhist rituals are still practiced by many people today. The last stop on the tour is at 101 Building, which is the world tallest.

Wulai, about 10 miles south of Pitan, is the most accessible area from Taipei to view the aboriginal tribesmen who once were the head hunters of Taiwan. See the famous Wulai Waterfall, falling from about 80 meters high and likened to magnificent white silk cloth coming down from the sky.

Drive along scenic mountain road following aborigine and ride in unique push-car to the top of a deep ravine. This is Wulai where aborigine girls will tell you of their lives in graceful song and dance.

Yangmingshan National Park is located just to the north of Taipei and is easily accessible from the city. After an hour's drive, stops will be made at volcano site and Yangming Park.

Then, drive downhill to Peitou area to experience one of the best hot spring bath in Taiwan. Bathing in the hot-spring water has a relaxing and refreshing effect. It helps to relieve muscle pains, nervous pains, digestive problems, arteriosclerosis and other ailments.

This tour will bring you to the Lin An Tai Historical House, a 30-room Ching Dynasty-Era family home on Pinchiang street in north Taipei, offers a rare glimpse at life in China's past. Then, proceed to Pao An Temple, which was built more than 230 years ago, making it one of the island's oldest temples.

Further on drive to Dihua Old Street, which is a hub of history offering a window of Taiwan's colorful and quickly vanishing past. The narrow street has scores of shops selling a variety of traditional Chinese goods.
