Rincon de la Viaje National Park is one of the most complete parks in Costa Rica with an active Volcano and a variety of ecosystems which include cloud, rain and dry forest.

Located in the mountain ranges of Guanacaste, the biodiversity creates one of the most attractive parks in the country. A walk through the park will teach you about the forest, including volcanic activity in the form of fumaroles (vents from which volcanic gas escapes into the atmosphere).

The fauna is no less important and the rich animal life often surprising with everything from Tapirs to Coatimundis inhabiting the park.

Explore Guanacaste's phenomenal Palo Verde National Park. Travel along the deep, slow-moving Bebedero River which crosses the dry Pacific savannas. From the boat, watch a fabulous array of wild birds and a myriad of creatures such as howler monkeys, green iguanas and coatis. You may also have the opportunity to spot other exotic animals such as anteaters and crocodiles basking in the sun.

Palo Verde National Park is dramatic in its diversity, mangroves, swamps, swamp forests, saltwater and freshwater lagoons, marshes, and both deciduous and evergreen forests where the characteristic palo verde, or horse bean grows.

The park provides shelter for a great variety of birds, the American Woodstock, the Roseate Spoonbill, the Boat-billed Heron, the Tiger Heron and the Tropical Kingbird, to mention a few. During this trip, you may spot birds from the boat while your guide turns you into an excellent bird watcher and teaches you to differentiate their calls. An exceptional experience.

Start the day at Buena Vista Rainforest, taking advantage of the volcanic activity. Here you can have a sulphur bath with hot spring water and a mud facial, a Canopy ride or a walk on the bridge. This paradise was built very deep in the forest among trees, rivers, ravines and thermal springs. It is a unique place in the world, where trees and plants have been preserved to maintain the rustic and natural style of the area.

You can find three species of monkeys in the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, the howling monkey (Congo), spider monkey, and white face monkey, along with many other species of mammals such as coatis, ocelots, causeless, and more than 257 species of birds. You can admire some of them as you sit down in any of the five hot spring water pools or while you enjoy a volcanic mud mask on the decks, surrounded by a cold water river that is born at the foothills of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.

From Guanacaste you will follow the deep lushness of the rain forest. Its grandeur will take you beyond time, beyond imagination. You will listen to the haunting cries of wild birds and other jungle creatures. You will feel at one with the earth!

In the evening, you will have the opportunity to observe one of nature's most powerful forces as Arenal erupts in a display of towering energy, spitting lava, and ash from inside the earth. Glowing lava and boulders tumble down the slopes.

Afterwards, you can find yourself embraced in the tender touch of sultry hot springs, born from deep within the giant looming behind you. When you open your eyes, you will find yourself savoring a moonlit swim in the luxurious hot springs and enjoy the sensuous tropical landscape. Finally, you can enjoy a delicious dinner.

The city of Granada remains in the same place where the Spaniard Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba founded it in 1524. Despite being besieged by pirates several times, destroyed during the civil wars and set on fire by the American filibuster William Walker in 1856, Granada is still one of the most beautiful cities in Nicaragua.

You will have the opportunity to tour the city and admire the different and interesting colonial and historic places while appreciating the beautiful architecture.

In the afternoon you will visit the Masaya Volcano National Park. This volcanic park features the Volcanic Museum with a complete interpretation of these phenomena, and also the Santiago Crater, the most active crater in Nicaragua. It is here that you can walk to the very edge of the volcano and look all the way down to the bottom.

You will have time to do some shopping at the Masaya Indian Market where you can look for wonderful Nicaragua souvenirs before returning to Costa Rica.
