The Musandam (Arabic: مسندم) peninsula is an exclave region of Oman that is separated from the rest of the country by the United Arab Emirates. In the northern section of Musandam, around Kumzar, the current language is Kumzari, which is one of the south-western Iranian languages and a sub-branch of Persian. The Musandam Peninsula has an area of 1,800 square kilometers and a population of 28,727 people.

Administrative Divisions


Musandam governorate consists of four wilayat namely Khasab, Bukha, Daba Al Bayah and Madha. Khasab town is the regional center of the Governorate.

Musandam Governorate has a lot of strategic importance owing to its proximity to the international sea route of Strait of Hormuz.

    This tour will bring you closer to nature by first of all visiting the Nakhl oasis and a having a photo stop at the impressive fort, you then proceed to the famous warm springs of Thowarah.

    Continue on an off-road track through lush plantations of palm trees and small mountain villages to the wadis (dry river beds) Bani Awf and Sahtan. A stop for a picnic lunch is made en route.

    Travel through a narrow gorge past water pools and reach some secluded wadis famous for their rock paintings, before returning to Muscat in the late afternoon.

    Day Tour to the Enchanting Forts of Nizwa 9 hours

    Nizwa Market, Oman

    The tour starts with a spectacular drive through the Hajar mountains via the oases of Fanjah and Birkat Al Mauz, to reach Nizwa and the impressive 17th century fort.

    Nizwa is located about 1.5 hours drive from Muscat, and is today of the most popular tourist attractions in Oman, with its historical buildings and imposing fort built in the mid 17th century by Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya'ribi. Nizwa's palm oasis stretches for 5 miles (8 kilometers) along the course of two wadis.

    After a tour of Nizwa you will continue on to the cattle market and the souk, famous for its Bedouin silver jewelry.

    The drive continues via Tanuf and Bahla to Jabreen, to visit one of Oman's most beautiful forts, famous for its wall and ceiling murals, before returning to your hotel in Muscat.
