Your tour begins at Nadi Airport with short stops in the farming country, then on north past the International Airport into the Sabeto Valley.
Sugar is Fiji's principal export earner and green fields of cane line both sides of the Kings Road. During planting or harvest times, oxen are still used to pull ploughs or cartloads of cut cane.
Your tour then continues onto the village of Viseisei, which according to Fijian legends is where the first Fijian's landed. Walk through the village, then travel to Fiji's second largest city, Lautoka appropriately known as the "Sugar City".
Lautoka boasts the largest sugar mill in the southern hemisphere. In Lautoka you can see the marketplace, mosques, the new Hare Krishna Temple and the FSC Compound with it's old colonial homes and 100 year old bayan trees.
The tour returns via a rural back road, the ideal way to see and meet local people at work and play. The high country affords a view of the offshore islands, as you return via Queens Road.
