Gentofte
Gentofte is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Copenhagen County on the east coast of the island of Zealand ( Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 26 km², and has a total population of 68,623 (2006). Its mayor is Hans Toft, a member of the Conservative People's Party ( Det Konservative Folkeparti) political party. Toft has served as mayor since 1993. The municipality is an amalgamation of seven formerly independent towns, all lying in proximity to one another. The site of its municipal council is the town of Charlottenlund. The other towns are Dyssegård, Gentofte, Hellerup, Jægersborg, Klampenborg, Ordrup and Vangede. Neighboring municipalities are Lyngby-Taarbæk to the north, Gladsaxe to the west, and Copenhagen to the south. To the east is the Øresund, the strait that separates Zealand from Sweden. Gentofte municipality will not be merged with other municipalities by January 1, 2007 as the result of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007). Demography

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich is probably Gentofte's most famous son, at least among the younger generations. Writer Dan Turèll (b. 1946, d. 1993) lived in the Vangede part of Gentofte from 1955 - 1964 and again from 1966 - 1969. He documented these years in his 1975 book "Vangede billeder" ("Vangede pictures"). Shipping Tycoon Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller also has his residence in the municipality. Visit three Swedish cities in one day: Helsingborg, Lund and Malmo!
You will follow the coastline from Copenhagen to Elsinore, passing through fashionable resorts and beautiful residential areas. Crossing the narrow strait between Elsinore and Helsingborg, you will get a great opportunity for a fantastic view of Hamlet's Castle - Kronborg - from the
sea. The voyage across the Sound takes approximately 20 minutes.
Once you have arrived in Sweden, drive through the city of Helsingborg, before continuing to Lund. Lund is a university city from the middle ages - founded in 990 by the Danish King Svend Tveforkbeard (986-1014). The city was the religious, cultural and commercial centre of Scandinavia until the Reformation. Visit the Cathedral, which has a magnificent 14th century astronomical clock and the famous University of Lund. Enjoy a lunch stop en route (not included in the tour price). Continue to Malmo.
