Half Day Taipei City Tour 3.5 hours

Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall

This tour affords a glimpse of how Taiwanese people live, work, and play. It includes a visit to the grandiose Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, in downtown Taipei to pay homage to the late President Chiang Kai-Shek. Then proceed to Martyrs' Shrine, to see an excellent example of classical Ming Dynasty architecture dedicated to the fallen war heroes of the country and an interesting hourly guard-changing ceremony.

Later to the National Palace Museum, which houses the world's largest and most valuable collection of Chinese art treasures. There are permanent displays of ceramics, bronzes, oracle bones, porcelain, paintings, calligraphy, enamelware, jade, Ching dynasty costume, carvings, and cabinets, as well as temporary exhibitions of other items. Wulai, about 10 miles south of Pitan, is the most accessible area from Taipei to view the aboriginal tribesmen who once were the head hunters of Taiwan. See the famous Wulai Waterfall, falling from about 80 meters high and likened to magnificent white silk cloth coming down from the sky.

Yangmingshan National Park is located just to the north of Taipei and is easily accessible from the city. After an hour's drive, stops will be made at volcano site and Yangming Park.
