Robinson Crusoe's Jungle Adventure and Rainforest ATV

What would Robinson Crusoe do if he suddenly found himself marooned in the midst of a rainforest?

Learn the ingenious 'Survivor' skills and secrets to managing this kind of a situation from instructors who have done such things first hand! Your experienced jungle guides will teach you how to make fire using only a machete and a piece of Bamboo. Learn to identify sources of water and how to produce it. Rappel from the hill top to the valley below.

You will then visit Robinson Crusoe's jungle style dwelling made from all natural materials - vines, branches and the bark of various trees.

After lunch, your experienced guides will brief you on safety procedures for ATV handling and issue protective gear and helmets. Explore the jungles of Belize on trails laid out over 100 years ago by loggers in search of precious Mahogany trees.

The trails are a good mix of various challenging terrain leading to the stop of the day - the Maya Caves. Here you explore caves once used by the Maya thousands of years ago. As you explore the cave, be on the look out for ancient ceramic pots forgotten for centuries.

Community Baboon Sanctuary 4 hours

Black Howler Monkey The Community Baboon Sanctuary on the banks of the Olde Belize River is located 30 miles west of Belize City off the Northern Highway. Consisting of some 18 square miles of subsistence farms, the sanctuary exhibits the spirit of coexistence that Belizeans have with nature.

Though a grassroots effort, the villagers and landowners have committed to preserving the habitat necessary to ensure a healthy population of Black Howler Monkeys./p>

With assistance from the World Wildlife Fund and the Zoological Society of Milwaukee County, a small natural history museum and visitors? center has been erected in Bermudian Landing, which is the most central location in the sanctuary.

Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary 4 hours

Crooked Tree Wildlife Located only 30 miles up the Northern Highway is a Mecca for nature enthusiasts, especially bird lovers. Crooked Tree provides habitat for over 360 species of birds. The majestic Jabiru Stork, largest bird in the western hemisphere with a wingspan of over 10 feet, can be found nesting in these wetlands.

Once you have crossed the causeway that divides the large lagoon, your guide will take you through the rustic village of Crooked Tree, famous for its abundance of cashew nut fruit trees. Local legend has it that the cashew was the only fruit created by the devil.
