Loves Park is a suburb of Rockford, Illinois in Winnebago County, Illinois, United States. In recent years, the city spread across the eastern Winnebago county line and now reaches into Boone County, Illinois. The population was 20,044 at the 2000 census.

A special Census conducted in 2005 revealed the total population of Loves Park, IL to have grown to 22,476.

As of the census of 2000, there were 20,044 people, 8,144 households, and 5,399 families residing in the city. The population density was 535.6/km² (1,387.2/mi²). There were 8,452 housing units at an average density of 225.8/km² (584.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 92.89% White, 2.33% African American, 0.21% Native American, 1.81% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.13% from other races, and 1.60% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.27% of the population.

There were 8,144 households out of which 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.7% were non-families. 27.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 2.99.
