Springdale
Springdale is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, 18 miles northeast of Pittsburgh along the Allegheny River. The population was 3,828 at the 2000 census.

Springdale is located at (40.541491, -79.782124).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²). 2.4 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it (13.76%) is water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 3,828 people, 1,685 households, and 1,034 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1,589.2/km² (4,104.2/mi²). There were 1,802 housing units at an average density of 748.1/km² (1,932.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 99.03% White, 0.29% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.18% from other races, and 0.29% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.21% of the population.
There were 1,685 households out of which 25.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.2% were married couples living together, 11.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.6% were non-families. 34.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.93.
In the borough the population was spread out with 21.9% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who were 65 years of age or older. School District
Allegheny Valley School District consists of Acmetonia Elementary (K-3), Colfax Upper Elementary (4-6) & Springdale Jr. Sr. High School (7-12). AVSD has approximately 1,200 students ranging from K-12, and approximately over 100 staff members, ranging from janitors to Teachers. The AVSD is the primary school district of Springdale, Cheswick and Harmarville.
On April 18, 2007, the AVSD was forced to shut down and cancel classes on April 19 for all students, after a Some sort of threat was found on one of the local school buses. The school was shut down, and most athletics events were canceled (With the exception of Softball and Track). Classes are expected to resume on April 20, With strict security.
