The Grand Palace and various temples certainly draw in the crowds making it very easy to over look two other remarkable buildings that are certainly worth visiting.
Jim Thompson, an American who came to Thailand after World War II and revitalized the Thai silk industry mysteriously disappeared in the Cameron Highlands (Malaysia). His beautiful Thai house is now open as a museum.
The house is actually constructed from the wood of seven houses and contains a fabulous collection of paintings and Asian artifacts. Vimanmek Palace is the former home of King Rama V and was build in the early 1900?s. The palace is made entirely of golden teak wood and is the largest of it?s kind in the world. Once inside the palace you will soon see this was the home of a King as you browse through the rooms many of which house priceless antiques and opulent collections.
