Deserted Beaches Hiking Tour 8.5 hours

Ham Tin Wan and Sharp Peak

The Deserted Beaches are long white sandy beaches in the East Sai Kung Country Park backed by mountains and separated by ridges running steeply down to the sea. The only access is by walking or by boat and during the week they are practically deserted.

You will access this hiking tour by train, minibus and bus from Central to Pak Tam Chung at the entrance to the Sai Kung Country Park. From there, you will walk along a Country Park access road following the northern shore of the High Island Reservoir, the largest fresh water reservoir in Hong Kong with extensive views over the islands and mountains of the eastern New Territories.

After crossing a ridge into the first bay at Sai Wan, you will follow part of Section 2 of the MacLehose Trail around the coast of the magnificent bay called Tai Long Wan with spectacular views of the clear blue waters of the bay backed by rugged hills. After crossing two more peninsulas which shelter inlets from Mirs Bay, you will finish the walk at Pak Tam Road and take public transport back to the urban area.
