Introductory Dive in Calanques and the Archipelago of Marseille The natural abundance and quality of the sea beds around Marseille have made the city a meeting point for many divers.

Marseille is asserting itself as the scuba diving capital of France with the presence of the French Federation for Underwater Sports and Studies and the National Professional Diver's Institute. This is the only organization authorized to issue diplomas to diving in Marseille, starting with captain Cousteau's first trials using equipment that was still primitive, leading to the sophisticated tests being carried out now by Comex. Divers from the whole of Europe who meet up here all year round can't be wrong. Follow their example!

You will be collected by minibus and travel the five minute drive to the harbor. Jump aboard and take the boat (30 minutes) to the dive spots. The dive location is Riou Archipelago or Planier Island, which are situated just off the first Calanque (Callelongue). Your instructor will begin with an introduction to diving and safety including explanations about the equipment and the diving process. The Medieval City of Provins by Minivan 11 hours

Caesar's Tower, Provins

After driving through 'La Brie', a charming part of Paris's surrounds, you will reach the city of Provins and its fortified walls. You will begin your visit with a walking tour of these magnificent military constructions which were built between the 11th and 13th centuries. Set in the middle of the Briard plateau, the towers and walls of Provins protected the prosperous town against the Kings of France.

Having discovered the small streets and the medieval houses of the city, you will follow your guide and visit the Caesar's Tower. The Tower existed prior to 1137 and was intended as a place of refuge should the town be captured. It was also used as a watchtower and a prison. Lunch (drinks included) will be taken just a few steps away from the Caesar's Tower in a restaurant with a medieval atmosphere.

Then, to conclude this trip to the Middle Ages, you will discover the history of Falconry inside the Ramparts Theatre of Provins. A splendid aerial show of birds of prey - 'The Eagles of the Ramparts', in perfect harmony with horses, wolves and dromedary.
