Noted individuals from Lindenhurst include Pat Benatar, Guitarist Ryan Curry and drummer Shane Curry of Seventh Dagger recording artists The World We Knew, indie film icon director Hal Hartley, game show host Jack Barry, and actor Dan Lauria of The Wonder Years. Lindenhurst was featured prominently in some of Hartley's films. The 90's ska band "Edna's Goldfish" also hails from Lindenhurst. One of their most popular songs is entitled "Everyone I know is from Lindenhurst"

During the summer of 2007, Lindenhurst was plagued by a seemingly random rash of "Dollings". Porcelain dolls were left on people's lawns with notes attached. The "Doller" remains at large.
