Your journey begins by visiting two of Kona?s gorgeous beaches: Magic Sands" and "Kahaluu Beach". Then proceed south to witness the marvelous scenic view of Kealakekua Bay from the famous "Painted Church" (St. Benedicts Catholic Church). Beautiful, bright, and creative, the ceiling, columns, and walls of this church depict Bible scenes painted by Belgium-born priest Father Velghe.
You will then be transported to Pu?uhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park also known as "City of Refuge". You will be guided through the Royal Grounds and the place of refuge (Pu?uhonua). Often cultural demonstrators will be working and sharing their knowledge on traditional arts and crafts. During the winter months you will often see green sea turtles and humpback whales in Keone Ele cove. It is here that people who violated "Kapu" (Broke the Hawaiian Laws) would seek refuge.

The Kohala Coast offers some of the best diving in the Hawaiian Islands. Hawaii is one of the most geographically isolated places on earth - 2000 miles from the nearest major land mass. An amazing 30 percent of the state?s marine animals are found nowhere else in the word!
The theory session teaches students the basic rules for scuba diving, such as stabilizing ear pressure, breathing on scuba, and how to use the equipment. The dive boat goes to a shallow reef and an instructor will accompany the student at all times underwater. The dive is approximately 30-45 minutes long and goes to a maximum of depth of 40 feet.
Please note:
- This tour is not suitable for children aged under 12 years
- A confidential medical form must be filled out prior to enrollment, and a physician's release may be required.
