Oil-exploration airguns punch 2-kilometre-wide holes in plankton
The seismic sound blasts made by airguns searching for new oil reserves under the ocean floor can kill large swathes of plankton, the basis of the marine food chain, leaving the ocean dotted with plankton holes.

Nearly 100 of the world's 500 shark species are found around Cuba.
There are many diving areas along Cuba's 5646 km of coast. The Isle of Youth (Isla de la Juventud), for example, is a marine reserve which is sheltered from the prevailing South East winds. It has caves, drop-offs and wrecks. Some of the best diving though is at the Jardines de la Reina archipelago.
