UNESCO has added the Belize Barrier Reef to its list of world heritage sites in danger. The main problem with Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System concerns mangrove cutting and excessive development. It also provides its guests with the option of reusing towels and bed linen. Vegetable gardens have also been created to provide supplies of organic produce for the kitchen. The popular Mercure hotel in Nadi has participated in Accor's Worldwide 'Earth Guest Day' and 'Earth Hour' for the past two years.
