Gagnef is a Swedish municipality and town in the Dalarna province, in central Sweden. The municipal seat is located in Djurås with 1,190 inhabitants, with the second largest town being Gagnef with 1,150 inhabitants.
Other small towns include: Björbo, Bäsna, Dala-Floda, Djurmo, Mockfjärd, Sifferbo, Arvslindan, Björka, Bodarna, Bröttjärna, Färmsnäs, Gagnefsbyn-Nordåker, Gräv, Hagen, Mossel, Myrheden, Myrholen, Nedre Österfors, Svedjan and Västtjärna-Östtjärna-Gruvan.
The industry is dominated by small and semi-small companies mainly operating in the forest industry.
Geographically, there are three rivers intersecting the municipality: the Västerdal River, the Österdal River and the Dalecarlia River.
